這可從觀察資料分離眾多奈米顆粒和奈米纖維，並計算其直徑、邊界長度或其他特徵量。纖維長度計算方式為邊界長度的一半。由於可以統計決定眾多樣品的特徵量，也可以用於以形狀為準的品管應用。
